Much more than a plate

You have in your hands a special piece of our history. This commemorative plate was created to celebrate the first 10 years of Mammarancia, a journey made of passion, roots and love for our land.

The graphic ‘Mamma, Ti Amo, Pizza, Arancia’ (Mother, I love you, Pizza, Orange) is not just a play on words, but encapsulates the intuition that gave life to our name.

Finding the perfect name for a start-up is never easy, and Carlo, our founder, knew this well. He was a university student with a clear dream: to bring the true flavour of Sicilian blood oranges to the world. But something more was needed… a name that would make an impression.

During a discussion with his classmates, someone asked him:

‘Carlo, do you know which are the most well-known Italian words in the world?’

‘Mamma, Ti Amo and Pizza.’

💡 It was a revelation.

Francofonte is the heart of Tarocco Orange production, and his father had always told him:

‘Francofonte is the mother of Tarocco.’

And so Mammarancia was born: a name that encompasses the love for Sicily, family and a passion for citrus fruits.

This plate, like our name, tells the story of who we are. It was made entirely by hand by the artisan Alessandra Pennino, according to the ancient tradition of Caltagirone ceramics, making it a unique and special piece.
